I purchased and enjoyed both Asphalt 6 and Real Racing Two, the two majot titles when it comes to Mac racing games. They’re good games, but there was something missing from both of them that the other just couldn’t fulfill. GRID is by far better than either one of those two. Sure, it’s not a direct competitor with Asphalt 6; it’s not a full-on arcade game. But once you finish the game (which, despite the other reviews, was quite easy to do in normal mode), elements that will please the arcade fans will be unlocked, such as speed boost and repulsor field. As for Real Racing Two, there’s really no advantages it has over GRID. I was never really yhat impressed with Real Racing; you don’t get your own team, the tracks arent real, there’s no real damage, etc. GRID is such a comprehensive and immersive experience. There are real race cars with real sponsors that you can drive on extremely accurate and mesmerizingly detailed tracks. You get a team. And a teammate. The cars handle beautifully, even if you’re using a simple keyboard. The narration is also very extensive, something I wasn’t expecting at all. In short: an epic production once again from Feral Interactive. Well worth 25 bucks!
I enjoy I a good race car game like any other gamer. Grid has great graphics, good voice actors, plays well on my mac (Haswell MBP 15" 2.3GHz/16GB/512GB/2GB) as it should and a good amount of custimozation with instant replay. But the game mechanics as others have commented are extremely difficult. Cars spin out of control with the lightest tap of the gas and turn of the wheel while using keyboard controls. It leads me to think that this game is made for users with racing wheel game controlers. I’d still say the game is worth the download if you’re into racers but understand there’s a large learning curve to driving the cars, and this is game is not for the casual pickup and play game user.
The graphics are good but the physics of the game are horrible. You will crash within a second nad your car will be completly useless already. It is so frustrating that I am going to ask for my money back. Developers need to get serious about creating software.
The game would not install total waste of my money just gave me error messages to download it again and i did that over and over again and it did not work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grid was a great game on the 360 when played with a controller. For this game on a mac to really be worth it buy a wired 360 controller. Do not attempt to use just the keyboard. It will be next to impossible to control. You need some form of a game pad for it to be playable. If you have a gamepad it is absolutely fantastic.
The only problem with the game is trying to keep the car on the track. I’ve been playing with a PS3 controller and tried to configure the controls but it’s still impossible to control the car. The PS3 controller is not the problem but I think the physics of the game. I restart the races over and over and over. So, good game but highly frustrating due to the physics of the game. I would skip and try something else.
Support for industry standard Logitech G25 wheel is poor and cars are all but uncontrollable even after endless adjustments of controls. I would not buy this game agin.
This is a great game. The problem is, it is way too difficult. Even on basic difficulty (the lowest) I found myselp raging at my computer. Don’t let the graphics fool you either. This is from 2007, so the graphics aren’t up to today’s standards, but will run smoothly even on my crappy computer (mid-2006 iMac). Basically, if you want a nice and challenging racer, get this. If you want an easy time, and rage easily, don’t even look at this page anymore.
i play on my laptop, 15 inch retina. and when ever i press play at the start up, it simply crashes and doesnt even respond. it turns off
i try to open grid and this opened to 5 second and closed
I was kind of scared to download this from what some people were saying it not working… I am so glad I did pull the trigger. Game works fine on my 27 inch iMac 3.2 ghz i5. Some reviews talked about it being hard to play, not really. You need at least a control like xbox (which I use). My background with Coademasters is I have played F1 2012 and F1 2013. Love both of them, and Grid is now up there with them. Gameplay is fun, Graphics are beautiful. I am ready to play again….
So real, so exciting. Full of challenges
this game is crap! i want my money back!
I have top notch racing wheel and pedals, and no matter what, I can’t drive the cars on this game. Impossible. It doesn’t matter how much I adjust the control settings. They just handle like crap.
An updatea allowed me to play the game with my PS3 controller… and now I have moved onto the PS4 and that dualshock 4 controller wont work.
Great game, beautiful physics and graphics! I loved this game on Xbox 360, and it feels the same on Mac. I didn’t find this game too difficult. I think this game is one of the few racing games that got it right. The physics are more realistic that any racing game I’ve played! Great job Codemasters! I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for one problem, the description is deceiving for this Mac version. Online multiplayer on Yosemite does not work, only LAN is available.
I have a new Mac this game locked me in a loop when I entered the profile. tried to reach support their in the UK don’t phone. What time is it. I only wish I had not spent the money.
