Best Racing Game on OS X

Im not sure why other reviewers give this game a low score, but I do not share their experience. This game is the best racing game for OS X, and I have played most of them. Its far more realistic than most racing games, both in the racing and in the scenery, which to me is a great plus. Yes, you have to practice a little and develop more skill to play this game versus some other racers, but its not really that hard -- just use the brake, and dont mash down on the accelerator all the time. My computer meets all the system requirements, which the description does mention/emphasize. I would pass on this game, and I think the developers would intend for you to pass on it, if your system does not have the right graphics card and/or system memory. Thats just a common-sense precaution. For a real console-style racing game, I have not seen a better game than this. I am very impressed and pleased.

Very satisfied

I purchased this game just because I dont currently have a racing game on my imac. I am really happy with it. It works great, a little difficult at first though. I know there are a few shortcomings but all in all its a great game. Didnt have any bugs.

Best Race Sim in App store.

It is no Forza or GT, but I played this game when it was only available for PS3. My brother had Grid when he had a PS3. It is really hard, but it is fun. And inspite of its limitations in gameplay, it is still an awsome game. I am pretty picky about my cars, but in this game, the car you are driving is not as important. The down right brutality is important. The AI is crazy and only gets crazier the closer to first place they get. The races in this sim are cut throat, fast, and crazy.

Great game, with one major caveat...

This game looks, sounds, and plays phenominally! Ive always enjoyed this game, even when I played it on my PlayStation 3. There is one glaring caveat, however… DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME WITH A KEYBOARD ALONE! The controls are situated toward arcade feel, but they are all or nothing, so you will do a lot of burnouts and donuts while playing. Steering with arrow keys is an extremely unadvisable option. Go to your electronics store, and plunk down 20 bucks on a controller. Youll be glad you did. Since driving games require precision steering and acceleration, I never felt that a keyboard would work well in the first place. Because of this, Im not docking the score a star or two, because I feel that if youre actually going to drive a car (say, in real life), you arent going to slam on the gas, slam on the brake, or yank the wheel 100% to the left and right while steering. Analog control beats digital control, hands down.

Online Multiplayer?

Where is the online multiplayer they say in the description?

Best fun-to-drive racing game ever, not just on Mac

I played this game years ago and I dont have much hope for it when I download it, because too many amazing racing game such as GT5, Porject CARS, rFactor, LFS has bron since, but after I played GRID today I found it is truly a remarkable racing game even by todays standard. The control is perfectly balanced, you can have fun with keyboard, but still feel sim-like, and it make circuit racing easier and enjoable for anyone, you dont need to know pro stuffs like turn-in point, apex, LSD, damp setting…and still you can enjoy the race a lot. And the detail of game is unbelievable, I didnt notice years ago that there is a D-Box in the cockpit of drift car, and the newbie Mustan has to fit a extra RPM gadget because the stock one only shows up to 4000 rpm, truly remarkable! And the UI, the game system, everything is well designed. If you like racing game, even if you are a sim-racing fan, this is truly the best racing game for you. Oh, yes I crash once, but just that one time(has to quit a session called "crashreport" or something in Activity Monitor to stop it keep crashing though). this should be fixed in the future.

Great Racing Game

This is my favorite game for the mac already. I bought it an hour ago. Works great on my 2012 macbook pro. Use a gamepad, I use the logitech dual action. All games sold by Feral work great, check them out.

2 words: DEMOLITION DERBY!!!!

Look into it and get on GameRanger!!! This is the most fun youll ever have racing online!!!

Great game but...

After installing & playing this game, my iMacs screen wont sleep nor will the computer itself sleep. This only happens after playing the game. If I restart the computer & dont start the game everything works fine. No problems until I start the Grid game again. Even the PleaseSleep app wont force the computer to sleep. Grid must keep something running that wont let things sleep. I searched everything that I can & cant find what the problem. Its frustrating when you finish playing the game & your monitor stays awake all night. I dont want to have to reboot every time after playing this game.

Best racer on Mac

If you like racing games, and you want to play on your Mac. It wont get better then this.

Do not buy it

This game is awful. I love racing games so I decided to give this one a try. I have had it for months and still have not figured it out. My back end is always spinning out and for no reason. I do not know how people figure this game out. This is not worth $25 and I would like my money back.

Disasterous on a Macbook Pro

Optimization for this is TERRIBLE. Do not buy this if you have an early 2011 Macbook Pro- even if you have a gig of dedicated graphics memory and an upgrade to 8gigs of regular ram it will chug constantly! I have all the settings turned down or off and am running the game at 1024x768 and it still slows down significantly, even with most of the underside of the laptop exposed to fresh air. Just save the $25 for a console or pc rig and put the whole Mac gaming nightmare to bed.

HELP

i cant get to launch the game

Hard to Control but Pretty Good Game

The graphics are great, but the car is extremely hard to control at first. Also, it takes up a lot of RAM (I have 4GB) so I have to close all of my programs before I can open the game. Otherwise, it lags alot. If youre really into racing and you think you have the time and patience to learn how to play, then its worth it. There have been times when I yelled at the screen because it was very frustrating. If you want an easy racing game where you dont have to spend so much time getting used to the controls, do not get this game. It will not be worth it if youre not willing to learn how to use the controls.

Fix it

serves no you can not drive with shock career is over

Finally Racing on a Mac!

Been waiting for a console-level racing game for quite a while on Mac, and this is it. I have always been a hardcore racing gamer, and I am certainly familiar with all of CodeMasters titles (GRID, DiRT, etc) along with Forza Motorsport (one of my favorites), Project Gotham Racing, GranTurismo, NFS, and Burnout franchises. I usually prefer more simulator-style racers, but this game is definitely packed full of hours of racing intensity. I DEFINTIELY recommend playing this game with an Xbox 360 controller (which requires a driver installation), or some other gamepad. But overall, Im running this on my 15" 2012 MacBook Pro (non-retina, 8GB RAM, Intel i7, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M) with Lion and it runs beautifully. It runs so well that it feels like this game was designed for my laptop. Gameplay is smooth, damage looks great, and the AI drivers at any dificulty always make the gameplay exciting. Also if you make a mistake while racing, you can always deploy the CodeMasters trademark flashback mechanic. I would also recommend turning off the driving assists, for maximum intensity. Overall, I am definitely satisfied with this purchase and I totally recommend this game!

Awesome Game

This game, along with Dirt2, is one of my favorite racing games ever, on any platform. The controls take a little bit of time to get used to, but -- contrary to what was said in another review -- you can "test drive" your cars on an empty track to get a feel for them before trying any races. The graphics are fantastic… I can play it at full resolution, with everything turned up as high as itll go, with my 2011 MacBook Pro with only an Intel HD 3000. The game itself is pretty intense. The other in-game drivers are lunatics, including the NPC that is on your team, who will not hesitate to run you off the road to get in front of you. The tracks are well designed. Theres even an option to have the 24-hour LeMans actually be a 24-hour race. All in all, I highly recommend it.

Frustrating

Maybe Im doing something wrong, but there doesnt seem to be any way to control your car in this game. Steering is ridiculously and unrealistically overdone, making it impossible to make even the simplest turns. It feels like the roads are covered in ice. Maybe racing games just arent my forte, but with no real instructions for keeping your car from overreacting and drifting out of control, I cant believe I bought this game.

Way too hard

I know this is a racing simulator but it is way too hard. The opponents in this game are vicious. They smash into you all the time and constantly run you off the road. Cars are really slippery to drive and often crash on their own. And this is on easy mode. I havent even finished one race at all, out of the hundreds of attempts ive done. This game is so difficult its infuriating. Its not fun. I want my money back!

Too Chalenging

This game is SO HARD TO PLAY!!! The car slips everywhere and I’m not even sure if I’m the one driving. i’m always in the wall or rewinding to start over again. This game might have good ratings, but I have been trying for 4 hours and I haven’t completed one race yet. I plan to delete the game. This game is worth 25 cents, not $25. DO NOT BUY!!!! I want a refund
